Artistic Wedding Portrait: American Gothic

Being an Art History major, I was thrilled to find this amazing post on Tying the Knot! Everyone knows Grant Wood's iconic painting American Gothic:Check out this creative bride & groom's take on the classic American painting:I'm loving it! And now that I think about it, this could be done with so many famous works of art throughout history!

The ever romantic, Gustav Klimt's The Kiss:
Jan Van Eyck's Arnolfini Portrait:
The most famous painting of a dutch couple --- it is actually a wedding portrait, so it is very fitting to the subject of this post!

My favorite painting of a couple, Marc Chagall's Birthday:
a wonderfully whimsical tribute to his wife on her birthday!

Why not go for the most famous & most often painted couple, Adam and Eve? This particular painting of the very first husband and wife is by Rubens:

I can picture a bride and groom (in their beautiful wedding gown and suit, of course!) in an orchard or wooded area, and of course there must be an apple in the shot!

Edward Hopper's Nighthawks:
So it isn't a romantic painting, but I can picture an incredible, high fashion photograph of a bride and groom sitting at the bar of a diner with the light just right. Gorgeous!

Stay tuned for famous works of art as a basis for your bridal portraits...
