Let the Wild Rumpus Start!

My niece and nephew are turning 3 next month and they'll have a Wild Rumpus to celebrate! These are the custom invitations for their Where the Wild Things Are party.
We didn't want the party to be too literal. So, I used The Jungle, a cubist painting by Wilfredo Lam, as the background for the invitations, and bold lettering to resemble the font from the Where the Wild Things Are book. The party is just one month away. Stay tuned for all of the adorable details!

Ahhh...Paul Johnson Photography

Paul Johnson Photography, the husband and wife team out of Panama City, Florida, is one of the best photo-journalistic style photographers out there. Of course I am a little biased, but I adore their work, and am endlessly inspired by the images they capture!

Here is the most recent wedding on their blog: Holly & Matt, August 7th, Seaside, Florida.

and the details...For some reason, the image is blurry. Click on the image to pull up a clear shot.

Thanks to Paul and Micheal Johnson for their always incredible work! I never get bored, looking through your photographs.

Amy Atlas for Martha Stewart Weddings 15th Anniversary Celebration!

As I mentioned a couple of weeks back, I've been waiting on pins and needles for the first glimpse of Amy Atlas's most recent dessert bar. She created a pink and gold masterpiece for Martha Stewart Weddings huge 15th anniversary bash!
Here are a few photos taken from her blog today:
Damask wall paper acted as the back drop for the table.

Miniature cupcakes were displayed on a variety of different dishes from pedestals to square trays.

Beautiful Petit Fours.

I adore this display of candy sticks.

Overall, a beautiful job as always Ms. Atlas! Check out her blog for more photos from the big party!

AMAZING Napa Field Wedding

The absolutely breathtaking fall wedding of Southern California photographer Jessica Claire is something that has been all over the web this week. Although many of you have probably already seen some of the images, I couldn't resist! Here are a few of my favorites by genius photographer Jose Villa.
They literally created a chapel in a field using salvaged windows, doors, and much more! I adore the eclectic feeling they created. The doorway into the dining area is nothing short of genius! And the beautiful vintage lounge is the icing on the cake.

Can you say perfection? That going away dress screams Grace Kelly!

This amazing Napa wedding is nothing short of a dream! They created a beautiful fantasy world in an empty field. It's official, I'm in love...

Oh the Beauty of Anthropologie

I adore most everything Anthropologie has to offer, but my absolute favorite items are their jewelry! Specifically the amazing necklaces...
They are all gorgeous and special and a fabulous bridesmaid accessory or gift for the wedding day! Check out all of the gorgeous necklaces available at Anthropologie.com.

DIY Wedding Pinwheels

Remember this beautiful tablescape that we posted last week from Cook & Company?
They've just released a DIY tutorial to help you create the adorable pinwheel look for less:
Step 1: choose your paper & buttons. Cut the paper into 2 strips of the same length and width.

Step 2: Fold the paper like an acordian.
Step 3: Fit the ends of each piece together and secure with adhesive square or tape.
Step 4: Pull the loose ends together and secure them together. It should be in the form of a circle now.

Step 5: Choose your button & secure to the pinwheel with glue.

For more detailed step by step instructions, check out the tutorial on Carter & Cook's blog

Our first book club party!

My friend, Anna, and I started a book club last month and our first meeting was tonight. Of course, we took the opportunity to go all out! And it was fantastic.
We used antique & beautifully bound books throughout the food table as decor. I also threw in a few gorgeous masquerade masks as a nod to Halloween and the mystery chosen for this month, The Virgin of Small Plains by Nancy Pickard.
Here are a few photos I snapped at the end of the night:
The food table...it was SO much better in person!

top, left: Anna's homemade pumpkin ginger bread. DELICIOUS!
top, center: bread sticks, apple slices, and crackers
top, right: fresh brie
bottom, left: my favorite masquerade mask & a small arrangement of red mums.
bottom, center: water with sliced lemon
bottom, right: miniature caramel apples

Instead of the miniature cupcake papers, I chose metallic doilies & they were adorable! This was my first attempt, so they're not quite as perfect as they will be next time. And yes, there will be a next time! Probably for Thanksgiving.

Thanks to all of the girls who came tonight! We had a great time and cannot wait for next month!

Comfort Food: Burgers and Fries in Miniature!

I still adore the mini burgers and fries that so many brides and grooms are serving their guests these days.
They're the perfect size, and serving the miniature version makes them perfect for a wedding! Bring them out at the end of the night after your guests have worked up an appetite dancing. Everyone will love it!

Smitten by a Rustic Wedding

I came across this photo a couple of weeks ago on Green Wedding Shoes and am completely smitten!
I am crazy in love with the calligraphy seating chart on vintage window panes! I'm thinking this would be absolutely incredible for Alli & Ben's rustic chic wedding next fall. With a few tweaks to personalize it, of course.

Here's another take on the same idea. Vintage shutters used as an escort card display: rustic fall perfection.
